- Patricia Murphey, assistant professor of visual communication, was awarded third place in the logo design category for the "American Design Awards—Semi Annual Design Contest."
- Lea Parker, professor in the School of Communication, published a photograph and essay in Thoreau's Legacy, a book by The Union of Concerned Scientists. The book wasl be published by Penguin Classics.
